Treasure boxes

We were inspired to make a treasure box from Des Hunt, the author who visited our team at the end of Term 1. He showed us a box full of his treasures. These included his first ever book, childhood memories and toys, and special things. Some of our treasure boxers had books that even Mr Semmens can remember reading. Two of our boxes had books "Harry the Dirty Dog" and "Are you my Mother" which were also his favourites when he was young!

Life Education recounts

I really enjoyed the life education lesson.
Firstly we went to the caravan and met the teacher called Lee. She turned the lights off and then back on. Then she talked about DNA and finger prints. We had to stand on the side of the caravan when she asked us a series of questions. There were no right or wrong answers.
Of course we saw Harold at the end. We played some games and learned alot out being special and unique.

I really enjoyed the Life Education lesson we had on Monday morning.First we went into the truck and sat down, it was really dark and on the screen we saw the brain light up! The lights were really pretty.
Next we played "stick em up". I was out when she said 5. Then we leaned about what makes up special and unique. Things like DNA, our eyes, finger prints, personality.
After that we had to choose a side of the caravan to stand after answering questions. We learned that there were no right or wrong answers.

I really enjoyed the Life Education visit that we had on Monday. Firstly we went into the truck and sat down in rows of four. Then it got really dark as we watched a brain beginning to light up. Next we formed a squoval and played "stick em up" where you had to keep your hands up and clap a number of times. I won the second game.
Then we learned about what makes us unique like our eyes, finger prints and personality.

I really enjoyed the life education visit. Firstly we went into the van and sat down on the soft carpet. I looked around at the pictures. I loved it when the lights went off and came back on. It was neat to see how the talking brain glowed and we loved seeing Harold at the end.

PREP Programme

Every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon pupils from Kereru whanau get together for PREP. This stands for the Primary Enterprise Programme. The aim is for pupils to design, make and sell a product.
They use resources, have jobs and create markets for the goods and services they produce.
The pupils have loved the PREP Programme.
